Rosa Parks Freedom Rose

Mrs. Rosa Parks’ Mothers of Freedom Salute

Detroit, MI (April 23, 2008) – This Mother's Day (May 11), the Rosa & Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development invites everyone to remember the Mother of the Civil Rights Movement by giving Freedom roses to the women who have influenced their own personal emancipation.

The first 381 persons to purchase the Freedom Roses will have the opportunity to write a brief dedication to a special person that will be posted on the RosaParks.org website.

Mrs. Rosa Parks lived up to the enormous demands of serving humanity, doing so with humility, love, courage, dignity and "quiet strength.” Her sacrifice and giving nurtured our nation and was extended throughout the world.

Everyday, countless women embrace the laudable vision of Rosa Parks “to bring peace, justice, equality, love and a fulfillment of what our lives should be,” said Mrs. Parks in 1988.

Sales of the specially-marked Freedom roses will support the Institute, which is the legacy organization that Mrs. Parks co founded with Elaine Eason Steele in 1987.
